Course Content:
1st Quarter: Fraction and decimal operations, Area and Volume
2nd Quarter: Ratios, Percents, Unit Rates & Conversions, Expressions, and Equations
3rd Quarter: Signed Numbers and the 4 Quadrants, Statistics
4th Quarter: Data, Standardized Test Prep, End of Year Project
Academic Requirements:
Students are required to complete all work to meet SC mathematics standards. Time will be given during class to begin (and often complete) homework. Tests will be announced in advance. Some test grades will be based on project assessment. Quizzes will be announced or unannounced.
Grading Scale:
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F Below 60
Grades will be based on Classwork, Homework, Quizzes, and Tests.
If a student is absent, they will receive a "1" in powerschool and have 5 days to turn in that work.
If a student doesn't turn in an assignment on time, they will receive a "1" and have 5 days to receive late credit.
Late credit will not exceed 70% during 1st quarter, 60% during 2nd quarter, and 50% during 2nd semester
Teacher-requested Materials: pencils, a composition book, large glue stick, plastic brad folder (with pockets)
Other Materials: Each student will be assigned and will be responsible for a laptop and calculator for classroom use. Any necessary math materials will be made available by the teacher. Students are expected to be respective and responsible will all classroom supplies.
Additional software: The following programs will be used on a regular basis and are available with internet access and/or apps. If home internet is not available, student may utilize classroom or library computers.
